Ha! Take that mojo killer called work!

I am feeling good. Quite good actually because I was crafty this weekend! Now granted I didn't get to spend all weekend being crafty the mojo definitely got some time while still hanging out with the family. 

With Valentine's right around the corner I decided to get on the ball and make some love cards! Completed a Valentine's card that I will be duplicating so I can sell on my crafty store on Etsy along with a few other designs I did a few years back, but never got around to selling them. 

This picture was taken with my iPhone this morning because I couldn't wait to share with you, my loyal followers, but will hopefully be able to replace with a cleaner, clearer picture from a real camera. 

The label and the word art is digi. Will update this post with the supply list later. I also wanted to share a card I made over a month ago.

Again, taken with the crappy iPhone camera. These are part of a personal set I made for those times when it's someone's birthday, like tomorrow, and I don't have a card made because I'm a douche and forgot. LOL. Can't have too many birthday cards in hand, right?

I was hoping that I would also complete the digi LO I started a few weeks ago, but after purchasing some new kits last week I decided to put that LO on hold and start on a new one. Plus I wasn't really feeling the LO and REALLY wanted to play with a new kit from one of my fave designers, Audacious Designs, whom I just found out opened up her store again at Design House Digital.   

I'm so glad I made time to get into my studio this week. Amazing what it does for your soul! Am I right? And thank you again for my fellow followers for sticking around and checking in from time to time. It means the world to me. I promise that I am slowly getting back to catching up on my blog reader and will post comments on your fabulous blogs!

Crafty goodness

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and you're able to roll out of bed. I know I'm going to be hitting the gym next week to burn off all this ham and bread I've been eating. Our Thanksgiving was good. We spent the morning with my dad and his wife and mother-in-law and then quickly came back to spend time with my mom. Luckily eating wasn't involved in that visit. To top off the night we went to my father-in-law's house to eat with him and my 2 brother-in-laws. I tried not to eat too much at each place but the gorging happened the day after. Left overs! Oh yeah.

It's day 3 of my long weekend off of work. I've been spending this time crafting away. This holiday class I'm taking is keeping me busy! I still haven't taken any pictures of what I've come up with yet, but I'll make sure to upload it before the weekend ends.

Today is also Saturday so that means it's time for Unscripted Sketches. I picked up these cute Yule card embellishments by Making Memories and was itching to use them. I opted for a transparency cover because I love transparency. I traced the bracket out of paper and used it to cut the transparency card I had, which I then trimmed off the rest of the card and adhered it to the brown cardstock. I wanted to make the transparency stand out a little so I added the glitter border. I'm all about glitter right now so I also touched up the rest pf the embellishments too.

I also finished a LO for Sketchy Thursdays. I stole one of Miss Akela's pics that I think is just adorable. She loves to take self portraits of herself and this is one of my favorites.

I wanted to use supplies that were an expression of Miss Akela. She's a little punk girl who has this mad style. I definitely had a hard time finding punk supplies that fit her so I'll need to reup on some. I like how it turned out though. Hopefully she'll like it too.

Have a fabulous Saturday! I have tons of things to do today. Going to finish up sewing these pillow case covers for the couch and some pants for the hubby. I think we're going to get our Yule tree today so I'm excited about that. The best thing I love about the holidays is the Yule tree and the decorations.

Getting ready for non-stop crafting

What a week, life and otherwise! I found out that one of my LOs was picked as a fave over at Sketchy Thursdays. Being that it was my first time participating in the sketch I was stoked when I saw that my LO was picked. Yay!

This week I signed up for a DIY Holiday class at Kayla Aimee's website. This workshop is filled with about a month's worth of inspiring projects to make some beautiful projects. If you have $20 to spare you can sign up for the class too. As some of you know I LOVE making projects!! The class starts tomorrow and I am filled with glee to get going in this. I'll post my projects here as it progresses. Here's a free lesson on making this cute paper trees:

To continue the crafting festivities, and to rightfully prepare for the release of New Moon in 5 DAYS(!) I signed up for 2 Twilight inspired SWAPs on Two Peas with Jenny. One ATC and one charm SWAP. I can't remember the last time I did a SWAP, but this should be fun.

So it's Saturday and you know what that means. Time for another Unscripted Sketches. I decided to go with yet another hybrid card. This card was inspired by this card by Jennifer McGuire. I picked up some textured cardstock (Bazzill) recently, which I'm totally loving. The journaling tag, quote and leaves are all from a digi kit from one of my fave designers, Sugarplum Paperie at The Digi Chick.

I'm loving this week's Unscripted Sketches

It's Saturday! Actually I'm typing this up on Friday night hoping that I'll get to sleep in tomorrow morning. With me being so tired lately the hubby thinks I need to sleep in tomorrow. How nice of him!

I was very excited to do this sketch. I think I'll use it to make a few more cards this weekend. I was even more excited on how my card turned out. The color scheme on this is amazing.

Getting a knack for this hybrid scrapbooking

It's Saturday, which means it's time for Unscripted Sketches. I opted to do another hybrid card this week as I've got several cards I need to make and to have handy.

I can't really tell you what supplies I used. That's the problem with paper scrapping- if you clip the name strip off how are you going to remember who it was made by? Seriously. The journaling tag and word art are from my digi stash.

This will be a short post today, but I'll be back tomorrow with this week's Weekly Rewind feature. Sometime this weekend we'll make it out to the Half Moon Bay's pumpkin patch festival with Joey. He's never been to a pumpkin patch before so he will for sure enjoy himself.

I'm on a roll with these cards

Since I've surrounded by a most talented team on Unscripted Sketches I have slowly been getting back into the groove with making cards. Cards are so much fun to make. Of course I probably don't have half of the arsenal that the other team members have with their years of collecting the most cutest stamps and supplies, since you know I haven't bought actual traditional scrapbooking supplies in ages, but I do have my digi designs and hybrid scrapbooking working for me!

Actually, I was hoping to do another hybrid design with this week's sketch, but this week I found no time to do any designing. The hubby has been preparing for a major gig that takes place next weekend. You see, my hubby is a professional DJ, mostly spinning reggae and electronic music. He was hired to play a camping outing next weekend so he's been locked up in his studio for the past month leaving me with Joey ALL the time. It's been a somewhat tiring experience, thus no time or energy to do any designing. The camping trip should be fun though. I'll make sure to post more about it next weekend.

Well let's move on to what you came here for. Pulling out the dusty boxes of stamps, ribbon and other supplies really makes me want to take them out permanently. Hmm... That would mean shopping trip! Ok, ok. Let's not get off topic here. LOL

I loved the Sassafrass paper and the color combo within it I used last week that I wanted to use it again for this week's sketch. I had also planned to pull out one of my stamps to get some usage out of them. The flourish stamp I used in this I bought several years ago and have never been used! I have many stamps like that. Can't wait to start using them!

 

Anyways, I need to cut this short. I've got to get ready to run some errands today. Need to start getting some things for our camping trip and upcoming Lake Tahoe vacation. Can't wait to see what you came up with!

Unscripted Sketches week 11: This one is for you Dad and Twlight (again!)

It's Saturday again, can't believe it. Where did the week go?

Since last Saturday I have read 2 of the 4 books in the Twilight series, about to start on my 3rd book today (as soon the bookstore opens). I think the hubby is getting a little upset cause he feels like I'm ignoring him, reading at dinner time, reading after we watch movies instead of going to bed, reading whenever I get the chance.

My friends who've read the books said the same thing to me before. I could never understand the power these books hold over you until I started reading them. The way the characters talk and feel in the stories. It's so utterly romantic. The best romance story I've seen and read.

I was always hesitant at first to read a fiction book. I don't read fiction books- with the exception of the Dan Brown books (Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demon) because the story is actually based on real life facts. The hubby even mentioned that to me the other night- "what happened to reading non-fiction books?" Well, honey there's still the rest of my life to read those books and others.

I feel like I'm rambling about Twilight. Hahaha If you haven't seen the movie or read the book, read the books first and then see the movie. Don't let anyone tell you it's just a teenybopper flick. You will LOVE it!!

And now, on to Unscripted Sketches. For this week's sketch I decided to do my Father's Day cards using traditional scrapbooking methods again. I like traditional scrapbooking, but quickly remembered why I don't do it as often I as want. First off most of my supplies are boxed up. Secondly, I have more digi supplies than I do paper- and I have a lot of paper supplies still. But it's fun to break out of that habit once in a while and go back to your roots.

Unscripted Sketches week 9: Taking it old school

My first Unscripted Sketches paper card! Week after week I see all of these beautiful paper cards with beautiful stamps and it got me thinking of those unused stamps I have packed away in boxes collecting dust. So when I saw this sketch I immediately knew I wanted to take it old school- paper crafting the old way.

Even when I was paper crafting I didn't use my stamps too often, though I probably have quite a few collections. Don't get me started on the dollar bin at Michaels! As I was going through my stamps I realized just how many cool, but never used before stamps I have. Sheesh. Talk about hoarding.

So I am all about mixing up Unscripted Sketches with paper crafting and stamps. After all, I have far too many cool supplies still waiting to be used. Good thing I listened to the hubby when he told me not to get rid of my stuff! Phew.
