It's Unscripted Sketches time- with a twist!

Hello again! Still MIA over here, but I see the light at the end of the tunnel! I hired my right hand person today to help alleviate the workload I have right now. Phew! Now I can stop doing 2 jobs half arsed and do my job exceedingly well. This seriously will mean more energy and more time with Photoshop. I am one happy person today. :D

It's going to take some effort to get back into the blogging sphere; composing and reading them. Do not fret, Mango Islanders. I have a few things up my sleeve. ;-)

This week at Unscripted Sketches we are throwing a piggy back challenge on top of the sketch challenge. This means that you have not one, but two challenges for ya: Sketch + Color Combo. The piggy back challenge was optional with the DT, but I decided to go for it. 

I have to admit that getting the colors to be cohesive was a challenge, but I had fun. It's like critical thinking skills for scrapbooking. 

I couldn't even begin to tell you what the supplies are because they aren't organized in folders on my computer...

Anyways, not too much stuff going on this weekend, but hopefully I can finish up that LO I started weeks ago. We'll see if inspiration hits. Maybe some digiscrap retail therapy is in order. What do you think?

Ha! Take that mojo killer called work!

I am feeling good. Quite good actually because I was crafty this weekend! Now granted I didn't get to spend all weekend being crafty the mojo definitely got some time while still hanging out with the family. 

With Valentine's right around the corner I decided to get on the ball and make some love cards! Completed a Valentine's card that I will be duplicating so I can sell on my crafty store on Etsy along with a few other designs I did a few years back, but never got around to selling them. 

This picture was taken with my iPhone this morning because I couldn't wait to share with you, my loyal followers, but will hopefully be able to replace with a cleaner, clearer picture from a real camera. 

The label and the word art is digi. Will update this post with the supply list later. I also wanted to share a card I made over a month ago.

Again, taken with the crappy iPhone camera. These are part of a personal set I made for those times when it's someone's birthday, like tomorrow, and I don't have a card made because I'm a douche and forgot. LOL. Can't have too many birthday cards in hand, right?

I was hoping that I would also complete the digi LO I started a few weeks ago, but after purchasing some new kits last week I decided to put that LO on hold and start on a new one. Plus I wasn't really feeling the LO and REALLY wanted to play with a new kit from one of my fave designers, Audacious Designs, whom I just found out opened up her store again at Design House Digital.   

I'm so glad I made time to get into my studio this week. Amazing what it does for your soul! Am I right? And thank you again for my fellow followers for sticking around and checking in from time to time. It means the world to me. I promise that I am slowly getting back to catching up on my blog reader and will post comments on your fabulous blogs!

Crafty goodness

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and you're able to roll out of bed. I know I'm going to be hitting the gym next week to burn off all this ham and bread I've been eating. Our Thanksgiving was good. We spent the morning with my dad and his wife and mother-in-law and then quickly came back to spend time with my mom. Luckily eating wasn't involved in that visit. To top off the night we went to my father-in-law's house to eat with him and my 2 brother-in-laws. I tried not to eat too much at each place but the gorging happened the day after. Left overs! Oh yeah.

It's day 3 of my long weekend off of work. I've been spending this time crafting away. This holiday class I'm taking is keeping me busy! I still haven't taken any pictures of what I've come up with yet, but I'll make sure to upload it before the weekend ends.

Today is also Saturday so that means it's time for Unscripted Sketches. I picked up these cute Yule card embellishments by Making Memories and was itching to use them. I opted for a transparency cover because I love transparency. I traced the bracket out of paper and used it to cut the transparency card I had, which I then trimmed off the rest of the card and adhered it to the brown cardstock. I wanted to make the transparency stand out a little so I added the glitter border. I'm all about glitter right now so I also touched up the rest pf the embellishments too.

I also finished a LO for Sketchy Thursdays. I stole one of Miss Akela's pics that I think is just adorable. She loves to take self portraits of herself and this is one of my favorites.

I wanted to use supplies that were an expression of Miss Akela. She's a little punk girl who has this mad style. I definitely had a hard time finding punk supplies that fit her so I'll need to reup on some. I like how it turned out though. Hopefully she'll like it too.

I think we're going to get our Yule tree today so I'm excited about that. The best thing I love about the holidays is the Yule tree and the decorations.

From New Moon to my anniversary, this week was a good week

If you read my last post you'll know that last Thursday was New Moon Thursday. Miss Akela, my friend, Kat, and I went to go see Twilight in the theaters at 9 pm and then the midnight showing of New Moon. IT WAS AWESOME!! Miss Akela is already up by 1 in seeing New Moon. Kat and I plan on seeing it again. Did I already mention it was awesome? SO much better than Twilight, though it didn't have too much Edward, the acting was definitely better in this one. Don't get me wrong; Twilight was great, but New Moon was better! Now I'm secretly wishing they would redo Twilight with the same director. But I digress. 

Last Thursday was also my 4 year wedding anniversary with the hubby. Would I be a bad wife if I told you I totes forgot on Thursday that it was my anniversary? I got caught up in New Moon. I'm not that bad. I thought about it last week actually, just forgot on Thursday. But hey. The hubby forgot too so... 

4 years. Wow. This January will be 11 years of being together. Wow. Time flies when you're having fun. No, but seriously, my hubby is the bomb and I'm so lucky he puts up with my crazy self. He's the total opposite of me: mellow, simple and laid back. I love you hubby!

Well it's Saturday so that means it's time for Unscripted Sketches. Given that this week was my anniversary it was only appropriate to do an anniversary card. Since I went through my scrapbooking supplies and had SO much good stuff I haven't used yet I was dying to use some rub ons. Thank you again, hubby, for talking me out of giving away my scrapbook supplies more than 2 years ago when I went digi.

Digi scrapping just doesn't get any better than this

You know the feeling you get when things just flow when you're doing a LO? Yeah, that's pretty much the feeling I got when I put this together, which BTW, was like in less than 3 hours. That's pretty good by my standards!

I am loving this week's sketch from Sketchy Thursdays. After I picked out the pics I already knew what kit I wanted to use with it.

I played around with the opacity on the red patterned paper, the title and the bracket journaling tag to tone down the brightness of the colors so they don't stand out as much. I really wanted to make everything muted to go along with the pictures.

Anyhow, this is my second post of the night and I must get to bed now, though I would LOVE to do an all nighter and just scrap till my fingers fall off, but will need all my brain power for work tomorrow.

Getting ready for non-stop crafting

What a week, life and otherwise! I found out that one of my LOs was picked as a fave over at Sketchy Thursdays. Being that it was my first time participating in the sketch I was stoked when I saw that my LO was picked. Yay!

This week I signed up for a DIY Holiday class at Kayla Aimee's website. This workshop is filled with about a month's worth of inspiring projects to make some beautiful projects. If you have $20 to spare you can sign up for the class too. As some of you know I LOVE making projects!! The class starts tomorrow and I am filled with glee to get going in this. I'll post my projects here as it progresses. Here's a free lesson on making this cute paper trees:

To continue the crafting festivities, and to rightfully prepare for the release of New Moon in 5 DAYS(!) I signed up for 2 Twilight inspired SWAPs on Two Peas with Jenny. One ATC and one charm SWAP. I can't remember the last time I did a SWAP, but this should be fun.

So it's Saturday and you know what that means. Time for another Unscripted Sketches. I decided to go with yet another hybrid card. This card was inspired by this card by Jennifer McGuire. I picked up some textured cardstock (Bazzill) recently, which I'm totally loving. The journaling tag, quote and leaves are all from a digi kit from one of my fave designers, Sugarplum Paperie at The Digi Chick.

Found: New sketch blog I love

I stumbled upon Sketchy Thursdays from one of my fellow Unscripted Sketches DT who was trying out for the guest DT spot. I love this blog because it gears towards sketches of LOs rather than cards, which is really outside my comfort zone.

Is Sunday over already? That means it's time for Weekly Rewind

The weekend flew by! I can't believe it's Sunday already, which means it's almost time to go back to work tomorrow. *sigh*

I'll make the most of whatever is left of this weekend, but first I want to post the Weekly Rewind.

The week was pretty uneventful. Work has been busy, with lots of time spent on doing research for this compensation program. This makes for one boring day due to lots of reading, some of which, is legal reading. Ugh. That's the problem with working in the Human Resources field- you have to stay up to date with laws and read a whole bunch of boring legal terms. But I love what I do, so I won't complain too much. :)

It rained unexpectedly on Friday for about a day. Joey loves the rain, for the obvious reasons, like splashing in the water, but it also means that he gets to play with the umbrella.

Today, Joey and I decided to make gingerbread cookies. It was the first time he got to make cookies like this. He had a blast! Perhaps next week we'll make more cookies. I've been in a baking mood, for some reason. Must be me getting in the holiday spirit.

Saturday was Digital Scrapbooking Day so I spent the day downloading massive freebies and even doing a LO!

No, this is not my cute daughter, but a friend of the family's daughter. I told her I MUST do a LO of her because she is the cutest little thing around. She is going to be a heartbreaker, for sure. It's a nice change from doing LOs of Joey. I'm going to be working on another LO for another friend of her kids, which I'll start on after I finish this blog post.

Oh, yesterday I also picked up Log Your Memory, as featured on Ali Edward's blog. I downloaded the eBook, but will get it printed at work tomorrow. I plan on doing a review on it sometime this week once I've had a chance to really look at it. I'm super excited about this purchase!

It's time for another Unscripted Sketches

I can't believe it's already Halloween already, and you know what happens after Halloween is over- it'll be Thanksgiving in like a week and then boom- it's Yule. Sheesh. I've already started putting together my Yule list and really want to get it done early this year. How about you? Are you starting to prepare for Yule yet?

For this week's Unscripted Sketches I decided to dust off the brand new stamps I've had for years that I've never used. I have boxes of these stamps that I'm dying to use so I will try to use a new stamp each week.

The red paper is DCWV The Green Stack that I just picked up and LOVE! The elephant stamp is Stampin' Up! and the word stamp is Heidi Swapp. As far as the other stuff, I'm not sure who it's by. Sorry folks. I'm a digi girl, remember?

Joey is excited to go trick or treating tonight so I'm sure I'll have tons of pictures for tomorrow's Weekly Rewind. Well, I've got to tidy up the kitchen before Joey and I run our weekend morning errands. Have a great Halloween!
